Welcome to Southern York County Podcast
My name is Jason Hoppes and I will be hosting the Southern York County Podcast. Our programs will explore issues important to our communities here in southern and southeastern York county, PA. We will be podcasting out of the Mason Dixon Library in Stewartstown, PA. In our programs we will cover issues important to southeastern and southern York county; and when relevant, broader York county and Pennsylvania state issues as well. In each program, we will be joined by guests such as representatives of community groups, community officials, school board members, local candidates, county and state officials that represent our area, and perhaps even yourself! Each program will be on a particular issue. Examples of issues we will be exploring are community growth, quality of our children’s education, taxes, public transportation, etc. Our show, however will be about more than just local news and political issues.
If you like local sports, especially high school sports, we will be covering boys and girls fall, winter, and spring sports for the Kennard Dale Rams. Coverage includes season previews and season wrap-ups. We will be talking to local sports writers and other experts around the state. We will also be talking to coaches and, occasionally, local kids with great stories. If you want to know which local kids are being recruited by colleges around the country and what kids from around the state are looking into accepting athletic scholarships at our local colleges, no one else will have better coverage. Occasionally our coverage will include all of the YAIAA, PIAA District 3, the CPIHL, as well as state championships. Let’s not forget the sportsmen in our area as we will be covering issues important to fishing, hunting, hiking, etc. Finally, I do not want to forget to tell you more about our lighter side.
So, you want to know more about local history, arts, and culture? We will be covering that for you as well. Some of our programs will be discussions with directors and personalities of local theaters, such as the Strand Capital Theater, the Pullo Arts Center at Penn State York, local festivals, etc. We will also cover local authors and authors that are visiting our area.
