CAFO stands for Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation. In our February episode, we will be talking about a proposed CAFO in Peach Bottom Township. We will try to separate fact from fiction on this controversial topic and hear why there is opposition to it and why those in favor of the hog farm feel some residents concerns are overblown and that not allowing the CAFO will hurt farming in southern York County and the state.
We will be speaking with Dr. Jay Graham – Independent Research Consultant with Johns Hopkins University Center for a Livable Future. Dr. Graham has received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Arkansas; an MBA from the University of Texas, and a Masters in Public Health from The University of Texas School of Public Health, and earned his Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health - Department of Environmental Health Sciences.
Also with us will be Dr. Ken Kephart - Professor of Animal Sciences, Pennsylvania State University. One of the courses Dr. Kephart teaches is Swine Production and Management. Dr. Kephart has a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Industries, a Master’s Degree in Animal Industries/Reproductive Physiology and earned his Ph.D. in Animal Industries/Animal Nutrition all from Pennsylvania State University.
