Some Decisions to Make
SYCP has had a good year with a good increase in listenership and brand recognition. We say every episode in one fashion or another that SYCP is YOUR community media. If we get no support from you there is no SYCP. It’s that simple. OK, not the end of the world I understand, but either you believe in what we do here and appreciate the information and the good we try to do for the community or you don’t. Frankly if you don’t, you are sort of wasting time even browsing to this site. So I will assume you do and if you do you must act. There are three ways you can help out so consider which ways are best for you and contact us at southernyorkpodcast@verizon.net:
- Donate - so far listeners have benefited from a totally SYCP funded operation. In 2010 this will no longer be possible as the well has run a bit dry. We will shut down at the end of this calendar year without some kind of cash inflow. I really hate the Pay-Pal donate widget but it seems like we have to be very obvious about our need for financial resources at this point.
- Volunteer - we need more folks to help out especially with hosts for episodes. We could also use folks with leadership and fund raising skills.
- Advertise - Run a business? We estimate from our statistics that SYCP has approximately 150 listeners in southern York County, about another 50 in northern MD and the rest of York County, and finally about another 100 across PA, the U.S. and internationally. See the fee schedule for rates
It is important at this time to express the need for community involvement with SYCP. We are at that critical juncture where we either “fish or cut bait”. By the end of this calendar year, we need more involvment as outlined above or come January or February of 2010 there will be no more SYCP. I cannot put it any more clear than that folks! This is it. We are working hard and will be doing fund raisers this year and perhaps SYCP products to help raise money, however, if the community does not get involved, there is no sense in continuing past this calendar year.
